Fear Holds us back

Before we awaken, whether it be spiritually or to something else, we are often living in a state of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of the future, fear of events already in the past.

Sadly, many good students and parents alike live in fear of mathematics. Fear of the Common Core State Standards and their new methods, fear of getting the wrong answer or not being able to find the solution, fear of bad grades, fear of feeling insufficient or alone, fear of not being liked by the teacher and the list goes on. If this sounds like you, then you are in the right spot.

If you have NO FEAR of mathematics you are also in the right spot. We will give your brain the ultimate workout!

Have a Math Awakening

At Math Awakening, we focus on the present moment rather than rushing through to the next standard or into an exam underprepared.

We take our time to understand the origin of formulas. We thoroughly inspect mathematics slowly and calmly. We focus on the language of mathematics and incorporating it into everyday vocabulary. Oftentimes, it’s the language of mathematics that poses the barrier to understanding and not the mathematical concept itself. We unravel each problem carefully almost like we are solving a riddle. We celebrate when we find a solution and we marvel at how we did so. By creating a learning environment that builds confidence, fear is no longer an issue.

This is when the true math awakening happens and the wondrous glory of mathematics is revealed. We are happy and united.

I was in Algebra 1 with Ms. G as my teacher! I was excited to go to that class the most because socially she was a teacher who understood everything I was going through and took the time out of her day to talk to me or help me with anything that I needed. I did excellent in her class and enjoyed every lesson. She not only taught the content well but if you didn’t understand her example she would show or explain another way of teaching it to make it easier for her students to understand. She really knows what she is talking about and you have fun while learning at the same time!
